Species Horse Hanyou

Jinenji (日暮草太 Jinenji?) is a character in the manga and anime series InuYasha.

Jinenji is half horse demon and was falsely blamed for many peoples deaths in a village nearby because many villagers see his rough, big looks instead of his kindness. He lives with his mother inside a hut located at their farm where they grow plants with powerful poison-curing properties. The identity of his father has not been revealed, though it is possible that he was a Daiyokai, like Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru's father. Although he is very shy he retains a lot of his father's demon powers and is incredibly powerful when the time calls for it.

The first time he appeared was when Kirara was poisoned by Naraku's shōki and Kagome and Inuyasha needed the herb that could cure Kirara. In another episode Jaken was stung by Naraku's Saimyōshō and Rin went to Jinenji's house to look for the herb. In this episode Jinenji was in his human form, but obscured inside a blanket.

[edit] Appearance

In terms of appearance, Jinenji is quite large. Towering at least 20 feet tall, he sports a horse-like muzzle. He is a hulking humanoid with an upper body more massive than his lower body

[edit] Abilities and techniques

Apart from his gigantic size, Jinenji possess phenomenal strength inherent to that of a half-demon. However, he rarely makes use of it outside of battle. And since he only appeared once in the manga (and twice in the anime), the limits to his powers are not known.

[edit] Friendships

When Jinenji encounters the Inuyasha group, he is shown to be scared of humans because of ill treatment given to him from the members of the village, simply because he was a hanyo. Though, upon meeting Kagome, he is surprised to find that she is not frightened by his appearance and willingly helps him collect herbs, she is more scared of a mere worm, rather than by Jinenji. Inuyasha on the other hand attempts to make Jinenji more forceful towards the villagers after he rescues them from a demon, but in the end, Jinenji takes up a more gentle approach and gives the injured men herbs to heal themselves from the demon attack.
