Abi-Hime (or Princess Abi) is a yokai from the manga and anime series InuYasha.
[edit] Overview
Abi-Hime is the princess of featherless blood-sucking fire bird yokai in the form of a beautiful woman with long black hair, red lips and a white and red dress. Abi-Hime's cameo was in Episode 146, when it was revealed that she had become a servant of Naraku. Her mother, Queen Tekkei, became ill after she ate a poisoned yōkai, which prompted Abi-Hime to collect blood for her.
After attacking several villages, Naraku appears and makes a deal with Abi-hime. To help her with her task, Naraku, wanting to use her as his next puppet, gave her a three-pronged halberd, made of his own bones and enchanted to make shields around the user, in return for him giving her blood. Abi-Hime agrees and, after InuYasha and company kill some of her birds attacking a village, she attacks the group and starts a lengthy battle with InuYasha, which ends when InuYasha is about to break Abi-Hime's shield and she leaves.
After this, they are prompted to look for the nest of Abi-Hime's birds, while trying to find a saint woman they believe is Kikyo. Abi-Hime attacks the village the saint is in, but with a single arrow scares Abi-Hime into fleeing. She then decides to attack the villagers, who are hiding in a cave. After a small amount of time, the saint comes and kills all her birds with a single arrow, reminding Abi-Hime to leave.
All this time, however, Abi-Hime was gaining suspicion of Naraku, and decided to betray him with some reinforcement from her mother, who was covered with a mountain, only one eye being visible. Abi-Hime attacks a palace, possibly Naraku's, that Naraku has hidden a baby in that is another one of his offspring to prove she's not Naraku's ally. When InuYasha's group comes to help, she questions whether they too are on Naraku's side for defending a castle that hides one of his secrets. Abi-Hime and InuYasha have a quick battle in the flaming castle, with her leaving, finally having collected enough blood.
Naraku, who decided to finally use Abi-Hime and Tekkei in a way more gaining for him, revealed his real plan with them was to use Tekkei to get into the border between the worlds of the living and the dead. Tekkei, finally revealing her full form of a giant bird yōkai, attacks and swallows Naraku, who responds by decapitating her from the inside. He then kills Abi-Hime as well by stabbing her to death, giving her a painless one as a reward for being very useful for him. He then used to blood flowing from Tekkei's neck as a river to the border of the living and dead worlds, with InuYasha's group in pursuit.
[edit] Abilities
Like all bird yōkai, Abi-Hime has the ability to fly. She also has had a small transformation where her eyes go bloodshot red with blue pupils (similar to InuYasha's in his demon form) and her teeth get more fanged, but whether the transformation continues from there or not, or if it has a specific abilities, has yet to be seen. Her only ability that is notable among yōkai is her 3-pronged Trident, which has the ability to create barriers around her since it was forged from Naraku's bones. In fights, she mainly commands her bird yōkai to fight for her. She can also shoots either balls or a stream of fire from her hands.
