[edit] History
Decimomannu's origins date to Roman times, as attested by its name, meaning "ten miles from Cagliari". However, a necropolis from Phoenician-Punic times has been found in 1879-1880. After belonging to the Byzantine Empire, in the Middle Ages it was part of the giudicato of Cagliari, many of the giudici setting here their residence. In 1323 the Aragonese defeated here in a battle the Pisans. Decimomannu remained to Aragon until 1353, when it was annexed to the giudicato of Arborea; after the latter's destruction it was a Spanish possession and, subsequently, part of the Kingdom of Sardinia.
