Aamir Sheraz (Urdu: عامر شیراز) (aka Shazi; Urdu: شازی) is the bass guitarist in the Pakistani rock band, Jal. He officially joined the band in 2004 and has been working on their debut album "Aadat".
Amir Sheraz has been playing since a young age. He started off strumming and experimenting with different tunes on his uncle's guitar while still a teenager. His thrust to improve led him to get formal training to play Bass Guitar from the Church he attended in 1995. It wasn't until 1998 that Shazi stepped into the Lahore underground music scene professionally. He first collaborated with an underground band by the name of "Wet Metal". During this time he played in a number of underground gigs and local concerts playing bass.[citation needed]
However after two years in 2000, Shazi parted ways with Wet Metal and joined "Jupitar". Shazi played with Jupitar for three years and by 2003 he started playing as a session player for various underground acts. During the one and a half years he played as a session player for various artists and collaborated with Shehzad Hameed's band with whom he worked on a complete album. The collaboration with Shehzad Hameed's band exposed Shazi to the rock-band communities of Pakistan. Shazi's diverse musical sense and his ability to adapt to different kinds of music owes to the diverse variety of musical styles from which he draws inspiration; from local acts like Vital Signs, Awaz, Junoon, Mekaal Hasan Band and Fuzon to International bands like Metallica, Creed, Led Zeppelin & Weather Report.
Shazi officially joined 'Jal' in 2004. He is now a full-time member of the band and has played bass guitars for their debut album "Aadat".
