From the Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that anyone can change

Vacuoles are membrane-bound compartments within some eukaryotic cells that can serve a variety of functions. That can be secretion and excretory, and storage functions. Vacuoles and their contents are considered to be distinct from the cytoplasm, and are classified as ergastic according to some authors.[1]
