Stephen of England was King of England from 1135 after the death of his uncle Henry 1 to 1154 after his death.He died on the 25th of October 1154 in Dover, Kent aged 57/58.Stephen was crowned at Westminster Abbey on the 26th of December 1135.
He was born in Blois, France, in 1096/97 and was the son of Stephen, Count of Blois and Adela of Normandy. His mother, Adela, was the daughter of William I of England and Matilda of Flanders. Stephen married Matilda of Boulogne in about 1125 And they had 5 children. He fought a civil war with Henry I's only daughter, also named Matilda, from 1139-1153. This ended with the treaty of Wallingford, agreed in 1153 by which Stephen is to remain King for the rest of his lifetime, but thereafter The throne passes to Henry son of Matilda, and not Stephen's son William. Stephen was crowned at Westminster Abbey on the 26th of December 1135. Stephen is buried at the Clunaic monastery in faversham, Kent.
