Emo is a kind of music that is short for emotional hardcore. It comes from skatepunk, punk and hardcore punk. The emo movement started in the United States in the mid-1980s in cities like Washington, D.C. Though Today people tend to label other people as "Emo" as well, by his or her looks. "Emo kid" is a name given to someone who is emotional, sensetive, dark, depressive, and shy. Mostly with black short hair that covers one of his/hers eyes. Though Describing people as "emo" is a label which some teenagers find discriminating, people (mostly teenagers) tend to do that anyway. Emo music originated in the United States, from Punk, and hardcore.
