Hi Ronline,

I have a " wish list " for ro.wiki... I think your "wish list" for mo.wiki is already known.

1) Naming - the entire Wikipedia uses the term "Romanian" for the language. This makes sense and is normal, but it doesn't make sense that there is a page about "different versions of the ROMANIAN language", or that there is no explanation at all.

2) Linking - Somewhere on the mainpage, it doesn't matter a lot where, I hope there will be a link to the Moldovan Cyrillic mainpage.

3) "Related topics" spelling rule similar to en.wiki - Currently the rule on ro.wiki is that you can't change Moldovan to Romanian spelling or vice-versa. To rephrase, the spelling a poster uses is not changable without modifying actual content. However, in en.wiki the rule says also that a topic relating closely to Britain should always use British spelling, a topic closely related to the US should always use American spelling, and so on (or at least that it's OK if you make those changes to those particular articles). I think this should be applied to ro.wikipedia as well - Moldova-related topics can be changed to Moldovan spelling, and if anybody adds Moldovan-spelled content to articles related strongly to Romania, it can be changed to Romanian spelling. Of course in the rest of the Wikipedia, policy would remain the same.

Also, it's nice to see you contributing here... you're very good at Cyrillic so far :) Remember if you get confused there is the article Алфабетул молдовенеск with instructions on when certain letters are used (for example Ь and Я)... that article should probably be moved to Алфабетул кирилик молдовенеск, I think, since obviously the majority of Moldova doesn't have that alphabet as their everyday alphabet. --Node ue 00:32, 28 May 2005 (UTC)

The Moldovan section of Wikipedia must be deleted

It is not normal to create a special Wikipedia section for the Moldovan language. There is no Australian English, nor American English or British English sections as all these - even though they have slight differences - are the same language: English. The only difference between Romanian and Moldovan is their name. All the rest is identical: grammar, vocabulary, alphabet, everything. In Moldova we use as reference Romanian language dictionaries edited in Romania. What i have learnt at lyceum ("Mircea Eliade" Lyceum) in Chisinau was Romanian language. The Moldovan language does not exist. We cannot consider the bad spoken Romanian language in combination with Russian slang words as the Moldovan language. All the documents in Moldovan Government are written in Romanian and in Russian (Russian is not a state language; at the moment when Russian was introduced as a state language, a sharp protest on the streets of Chisinau has begun so that in less than two weeks the decision was annulled). Romanian is used with the Romanian alphabet, and not the Cyrillic one. The Cyrillic alphabet was never specific to Romanian language, and even to the Romanian language in Moldova. After the fall of the USSR, Moldova has decided to return to the historically correct Romanian alphabet (the alphabet of Latin origins) and since there was never in discussion even the possibility of returning to the Cyrillic alphabet. It was introduced only to serve as a means of effacing the Romanian culture and traditions in Moldova. It was introduced only in the try to demonstrate that Moldovans and Romanians have developed isolated from each other. Romanian written with Cyrillic is an abnormality. All content related to Moldova should be included in the Romanian section of Wikipedia, that is ro.wikipedia.org. In my opinion mo.wikipedia.org should be deleted. At most a subsection of Romanian Wikipedia should be opened for the case when someone wants to insert content in Romanian written with Cyrillic alphabet (taking into account the works edited during the Moldovan SSR, after the Second World War till the Moldovan declaration of Independence and Sovereignty).

Hi Ronline,

Yes, there is a difference :)

Cyrillic is encoded entirely separately, even the letters that are identical... Sorry :-/

In realitate vad ca lucrurile merg total in sensul opus.

-Romihaitza 12:38, 18 July 2005 (UTC)

Intrebari

Salut Ronline.

  • Thanks Oleg for this. You might also want to look at User talk:Jeorjika, where Goie has accused me of being a Stalinist ex-KGB Smirnovist agent. --Node
Multam! en:Oleg Alexandrov (en:talk) 15:46, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
