South Central Cartel est un groupe de gangsta rap originaire de Los Angeles. Il fut à l'origine de certains tubes comme "U Gotta Deal Wit Dis", "Pops Was a Rolla", "Ya Getz Clowned", "Gang Stories", "Servin 'Em Heat", "Knocc on Wood" (Remix), and "All Day Everyday".

[modifier] Les débuts
Comme un certain nombre de collectifs gangsta hip-hop né au début des années 90 après le succès de N.W.A., South Central Cartel se fit connaître en 1991 avec un premier album intitulé South Central Madness, bien avant de sortir une foulée d'album qui feront le succès du groupe durant la décennie en cours. Après ce premier opus, le groupe édita un second album en 1994, 'N Gatz We Truss, qui apporta une certaine notoriété dans le milieu du gangsta rap underground. Le groupe signa alors chez sur le label Def Jam Recordings, qui permit à celui-ci de sortir en 1997 leur album ayant eu le plus de succès : All Day Everyday.
Au cours de cette même période, les leaders du groupe Havoc et Prodeje sortirent ensemble une série d'albums sur le label Pump Records et ainsi, formèrent autour de leurs compositions, un noyau solide d'afficionados.
Malgré un succès relatif, le groupe s'éleva au rang des groupes pionners du gangsta rap des années 90, comme N.W.A., Compton's Most Wanted, et Above the Law
