Mark Kac (ou Marek Kac) (3 août 1914 - 26 octobre 1984) (prononcer : katz) était un mathématicien américain d'origine polonaise, spécialiste de la théorie des probabilités.

Né à Krzemieniec, actuellement en Ukraine. Émigre au États-Unis en 1937, où il restera définitivement. Meurt en Californie, USA.
Auteur de nombreux travaux en théorie des probabilités.
En 1966, il a synthétisé un problème de géométrie spectrale sous la forme d'une question devenue célèbre : « Peut-on entendre la forme d'un tambour ? »[1].
