ZOOM IN is a teen produced news and entertainment show which broadcasts in the San Francisco Bay Area on cable channels 27 and 29. The program is part of an afterschool and summer course called "Beginning MYTV", taught at the Bayview Hunters Point Center for Arts & Technology (BAYCAT).
Zoom in debuted in 2004, with its first program, "Zoom In: Neighborhood News", focusing on local businesses and community leaders in the Bayview Hunters Point district.
Other programs included:
- "Zoom In: Why Violence?", which featured KTVU's anchorwoman Sara Sidner and students from various schools on gang violence, the war in Iraq and ultraviolent videogames.
- "Zoom In: The American Menu" (on food, caffeine and tobacco)
- "Zoom In: Peer Pressures"
- "Zoom In: Civil Rights in the 21st Century" (Patriot Act and espionage)
- "Zoom In: Negative Images in the Media" (stereotypes)
- "Zoom In: Identity" (community and world affairs)
At the end of 2006 some of their work was displayed at Zeum in San Francisco as part of World Savvy's "Global Youth Media & Arts Festival".
