[edit] Scottish Arms

Sorry, but that svg version just doesn't look right! /wangi 09:58, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Could you please be more elaborate so that I can correct it. The page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_of_arms_of_scotland gives the blazon as "Or, a lion rampant within a double tressure flory counter-flory Gules. (The lion is usually also depicted armed and langued azure.)" which means that the arms is golden and a standing lion and those lines with fleurs-de-lys on the sides. Also, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blazon states that "A coat of arms or flag is therefore not primarily defined by a picture, but rather by the wording of its blazon" so don't be fooled by the different looks of the lions. Yeah, but your version doesn't look like any Lion Rampant I've ever seen flying in Scotland. It simply doesn't look right, I know you've spent a fair bit of effort here - so sorry! Perhaps get some more opinions at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Scotland? Thanks/wangi 10:20, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
Based on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lion_(heraldry) the lion cannot be anything but rampant. Even if the image is heraldically correct, I do accept that there might be some customary way it is portrayed. Zipola 10:32, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
Have to agree with wangi. There may be nothing in the svg that contradicts formal heraldic descriptions but the beast is quite unlike regular useage. Just type 'lion rampant scotland' into Google images or go to this. Ben MacDui (Talk) 11:19, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
There seems to be a more correct lion at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Lionrampant.svg I'll a new one based on that. Stay tuned. Zipola 11:37, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Here it is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Royal_arms_of_Scotland.svg

Good work, looks spot on. Thanks/wangi 11:58, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
I've changed the shield shape to address further concerns at the Scotland article. Thanks/wangi 12:38, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
Somebody had already done a nice version: Image:Royal Arms of Scotland.svg . Strangely it doesn't show on the main Scotland article.
I'll look into that. Thanks/wangi 16:58, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
