[edit] congrats!

Congrats on the FA! Ling.Nut 22:45, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

I second that! Great job.--PericlesofAthens 18:02, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Missing publishers

Several of the sources do not have identified publishers; I can't fill them in as they're not in English. I filled in the ones I could; some of the sources don't appear to meet WP:RS and might need to be replaced with better sources. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 22:53, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

I have fixed one of the english refs. I'm currently working on the Chinese refs. Thanks for your help. (Ghostexorcist 23:00, 28 July 2007 (UTC))
I believe all links have been fixed.--Ghostexorcist 23:35, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism

Aren't all featured articles posted on the main page supposed to be protected? Kimera757 15:56, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

I don't think it was done properly.--Ghostexorcist 16:32, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
No, in fact they're not supposed to be protected. The idea is to keep it open to editing, to demonstrate even in the most prominent article how the wiki works.--Pharos 18:04, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
I've semi-protected for 1 hour because of a persistent vandal using a variety of IP addresses. Hopefully a very short protection isn't too disruptive to productive editors. GoodnightmushTalk 20:48, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Top close-up portrait

I removed this earlier, because frankly it's of really poor quality, and it's only a close-up of an image that is already in the article. I don't know if there's anything else available, but even a simple black-line tracing of Zhou Tong in the other image would be far superior.--Pharos 18:11, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

It's a low resolution photo. It's been at the head of the article for quite a long time and no other editors have had a problem with it. It's fine where it is. (Ghostexorcist 18:15, 29 July 2007 (UTC))
Well I'm not one of those "other editors". The image is terrible. Hardly good enough for a featured artcle on the front page. vlad§inger tlk 19:31, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
I don't disagree that the image is more than a bit subpar in terms of quality. I think the article might be improved if it were to be either removed or replaced. Certainly, the presence of a less-than-impressive image like this one might make the article more likely to be "demoted" in FAR, if and when it is placed up for consideration there. John Carter 19:40, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
I have replaced the image with a slightly better one. If you don't like it, feel free to revert. --Reklamedame 23:02, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
The newer image was too blurry to be used as a lead photo. I have slightly altered a "simple black-line tracing" (as Pharos put it) from Zhou's Lianhuanhua-style biographic comic book.--Ghostexorcist 03:23, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
Personally, considering Zhou Tong is more or less in the middle of the picture, I wouldn't have any personal objections to using Image:Zhoutong&students.jpg in the top box. Alternately, if either of the images at [1] might be available, I think either of them, particularly the black and white on top, would be good enough for such a prominent location in the articleḹ. John Carter 14:25, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
The picture you provided the link for is not this specific Zhou Tong. You are confusing him with the similarly named Zhou Tong (Water Margin).--Ghostexorcist 15:53, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
My apologies for the incorrect link. On that basis, I tend to agree that there may be very few if any other pictures of the subject, at least available on the net, as I looked for some. On that basis, I think that the existing picture mentioned above, in which Zhou Tong is a physically central character, might be the best alternative. John Carter 15:58, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
It would be preferable to make a black-line tracing from Image:Zhoutong&students.jpg, because that's a PD "traditional" image, rather than a copyrighted panel from a commercial comic book (which goes against our general preferences for more scholarly material, and for free content). If you don't feel up to it yourself, we could put always put a request up at Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/Images to improve.--Pharos 00:29, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rewrote lead

I have rewritten the lead paragraph because it lacked much of the historical information that was added after it was initially written. It also lacked important info that detailed the difference between the historical Zhou Tong and his distinct fictional persona. --Ghostexorcist 05:30, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

I am currently rewriting the "history" section to read more like a narrative, instead a choppy collection of quotes. --Ghostexorcist 00:18, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] removal of material

I have removed roughly 4 kb worth of material from the article over the last couple of weeks. I did this because it over analyzed the subject. This was stuff that did not really add to the narrative or flow of the article. --Ghostexorcist (talk) 00:38, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

I have removed several more kb worth of material and added more pin-point information. Before, the lead actually summarized more material than what was in the body of the article. That has changed. --Ghostexorcist (talk) 06:14, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
