On September 28, 2006 Zambia held elections for its 158-seat National Assembly. Presidential elections were held on the same day.

The Movement for Multiparty Democracy secured 72 seats, the Patriotic Front returned with 46 seats, and the United Democratic Alliance collected 27 seats.
