[edit] Caudron

Hello,

As regards the question you asked on fr:Wikipedia, I think the pronouciation is kodʁɔ~ (the ~ should be above the ɔ)

I hope to have well answered the question.

Good luck !

[edit] Speedy deletion of Igor Pavlov (programmer)

A tag has been placed on Igor Pavlov (programmer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit] Hi Yuriybrisk

Noticed your new template at the bottom of the various ex-Soviet air force articles. Are you interested in doing translating or expansion work on these? For example, there's a couple of articles, like 8-я Воздушная армия that could do with translating. Please do drop me a message on my talk page if you're interested. Best regards Buckshot06 (talk) 06:08, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

ok, i'll think about that. something of the kind of Template:Armies of the Soviet Army and Template:Вооружённые силы СССР в ВОВ... --Yuriy Lapitskiy ~ 09:53, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Bookcover 3001 The Final Odyssey.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Bookcover 3001 The Final Odyssey.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:04, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Why Robin Good?

The film refers to the figure of Robin Hood. If you want to transliterate the Russian name (why?) then it must be Robin Gud. There is no explanation for Robin Good. Voyevoda (talk) 10:00, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Gud will read as Гад (reptile) - "u" transcripts as [ʌ]. I will add the alt. translation though. --Yuriy Lapitskiy ~ 11:16, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
"Hood" and "Good" sounds nearly the same in Russian. Still, HMS Hood did not become HMS Good. It's a matter of traditional pronunciation. --Yuriy Lapitskiy ~ 11:20, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
The film refers to the figure of Robin Hood and I don't think we should distract this fact by the unneccessary use of transcription in this case. The word Good has another meaning in English, creating new associations, which were originally not intended that way. Your argument about Гад is also questionable, since we usually don't use transcription on wikipedia, but transliteration. I suggest, we just rename it The Arrows of Robin Hood and forget all the problems. Sincerely, Voyevoda (talk) 13:27, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Translit will be Strely Robin Guda and that's awful for an English reader (transcription should be preferable). Yes, I'm aware that "Good" creates additional connotations, but ask half of a people in Russia from what English word Robin Hood's surname came. I may assure you that the answer will be Good. I agree with renaming the article, though. (The Arrows of Robin Hood (film)) P.S.: Recently, I had a similar case with Guy Severin article (you may see, if interested). --Yuriy Lapitskiy ~ 16:31, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your comprehension. I don't think that what Soviet citizens thought who were mostly uneducated in English, matters on English wikipedia. Translit can be applied to the whole name or just to the hero's name. Voyevoda (talk) 23:44, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Films, based on true story

Hi there! Perhaps you were not aware that we already have Cat:Films based on actual events; please use this category in the future, as I have proposed that the former be merged into the latter. Cheers! Her Pegship (tis herself) 01:00, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, I will! --Yuriy Lapitskiy ~ 10:14, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:44CL Brisk Iced Tea.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:44CL Brisk Iced Tea.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:28, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] "The" animator.ru

Yuriy, I keep noticing that you're editing pages that say "at animator.ru" to say "at the Animator.ru". This is not correct. Website names shouldn't be capitalized, and putting "the" in front of it is just plain wrong. Compare: at ebay (11,500,000 hits) vs. at the ebay (380,000 hits). The only time anyone says "at the eBay" is when they're saying "at the eBay [event]". It is the same way for any other website, animator.ru included. Esn (talk) 10:15, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

OK, thanx, I'll note this... :) --Yuriy Lapitskiy ~ 16:18, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Shakespearian class

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Shakespearian class, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://uboat.net/allies/warships/class.html?ID=338. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 16:52, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Automation and Remote Control.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Automation and Remote Control.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 12:45, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
