Youth & Young Manhood was the debut album from Kings of Leon, released in August 2003.
The album seemed to divide music fans: while some appreciated the album's blend of southern rock and Strokes-influenced Alternative rock, others considered it dull and clichéd, and denounced Caleb Followill's distinctive vocals as being unintelligible.[who?]
"Molly's Chambers", "Wasted Time" and "California Waiting" were all released as singles and "Red Morning Light" featured on the soundtrack to the game FIFA Football 2004. "Spiral Staircase" featured on the PS3 game Motorstorm. "Red Morning Light" was also featured on a Ford Focus commercial.
The album was recorded between Sound City Studios, California (where Nirvana's Nevermind and Fleetwood Mac's Rumours were made) and Shangri-La Studio in Malibu [1].
