[edit] The Site
The site contains a G.W.R. Transfer Shed built in the 1860's which was erected to facilitate the transfer of goods from Broad Gauge to Standard Gauge freight wagons (now a cafe and visitor centre and the only one of its' type in situ), an S.R. turntable and a 15,000 gallon water tower. The latter two items have been restored to working order. An Engine Shed was built and opened in 1999.
[edit] Events
The centre holds regular events including Train Days where they operate steam train rides using a brake van down the Clifton Maybank spur as well as turntable demonstrations. Often there are additional attractions on site such as the miniature railway, shed tours, model railway and art gallery. There are other events such as the Train & Tractor Day & Santa Specials.
Main Line Steam & Diesel Excursions to Exeter or Weymouth often call here to be turned & serviced.
