Verran is a municipality in the county of Nord-Trøndelag, Norway.
The municipality of Mosvik og Verran was divided January 1, 1901. Malm was merged with Verran January 1, 1964.
Verran has the following neighbouring municipalities: Rissa, Steinkjer, Leksvik, Mosvik, Namdalseid and Inderøy.

The municipality is named after the fjord of Verrasundet (Old Norse Veri). The meaning of the old name is probably 'the quiet one', 'the fjord with still water'.
