This book was seminal for Roman Vishniac: it was the first major publication of his and brought him much renown; now the book's title is almost synonymous with the name "Roman Vishniac". It was also one of the earliest and most comprehensive graphic histories of Jewish life at the beginning of the Nazi era, the production of which was one of Vishniac's goals. In Roman Vishniac, this picture is used to show the cover of A Vanished World in the ==References== section. This is apropos because the book was the subject of many cited references. For these reasons, the picture is covered by fair use law and should bbe included in Roman Vishniac for educational purposes.
