Valledoria (Gallurese: Codaruìna) is a town and commune in the province of Sassari situated on the Gulf of Asinara, near the mouth of the Coghinas river.

Valledoria was part of the giudicato of Torres, and was later acquired by the Genoese family of Doria. After the Aragonese conquest of Sardinia, the area was struck by plague which highly depopulated it.
A demographic rise occurred in the early 19th century, when new settlers coming from Aggius and Tempio Pausania created Codaruina. In 1960 the latter became an autonomous commune with the name of Valledoria. In 1983 the frazione of Santa Maria Coghinas became an independente commune.

Valledoria has a strong potential about sailing sports. Wind surf and kite surf are often played in this area, with a new entry represented by sailing dinghies. The spot it well knowed by European surfers, especially La Ciaccia, the local best place for wave riding with mistral wind. In San Pietro beach are possible high jumps and speed runs, with East wind. In the last years many people came here to play kite surf, because in the Coghinas river there are flat water conditions when the sea doesn't permit to surf outside, for the strong current. In this secure internal water spot you can try the best kite maneuvers and jumps.
