Template talk:User browser:SeaMonkey
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I don't see why the use of the Seamonkey logo on this userbox would violate the criteria at Template:Mozilla. Is there some Wikipedia policy that precludes this usage? Brock256 21:33, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, Template:Mozilla describe a non-commerical, non-derivative and use by permission license wich is not permited on Wikipedia (they are not free content). So they can only be used under a fair use claim on Wikipedia, and our fair use policy expressly forbid the use of fair use material in templates and on userpages. --Sherool (talk) 05:38, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, then I guess it's fortunate that Burnte has corrected the licensing information on Image:SeaMonkey.png to reflect the fact that it's tri-licensed. Thanks for the clarification of the fair use policy; I'll have to give that a closer look if I'm ever involved with content like that in the future. Brock256 07:06, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
