United States District Court for the Western District of Washington

The United States District Court for the Western District of Washington is the Federal district court whose jurisdiction comprises the following counties: Clallam, Clark, Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, Island, Jefferson, King, Kitsap, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, Pierce, San Juan, Skagit, Skamania, Snohomish, Thurston, Wahkiakum, and Whatcom. It has jurisdiction over the cities of Bellingham, Seattle, and Tacoma.
The United States Attorney's Office for the Western District of Washington represents the United States in civil and criminal litigation in the court. The United States Attorney for the district had been John McKay (2001-2005), but has since been dismissed. He is one of eight United States Attorneys fired. It is unclear who his successor shall be.
