United States Department of Justice Justice Management Division

The Justice Management Division (JMD) of the US Department of Justice is the administrative arm of the department, whose mission is to support the Senior Management Offices (SMOs), Offices, Bureaus and Divisions (called Components, of which there are somewhere around 40) which make up DOJ. Common functions such as Finance, Personnel/HR, Procurement, Policy & Planning and Information Resource Management (IRM)/CIO functions operate under JMD. JMD is headed up by the Assistant Attorney General for Administration (AAG-A). The current AAG-A is Lee Lofthus who was appointed in December 2006, after having replaced Paul Corts who left in the summer of 2006. The AAG-A reports to the Deputy Attorney General (DAG). Four Deputy Assistant Attorneys General (DAAGs) report to the AAGA for the four functions listed above. JMD's mission is complex, given the large number and variety of organizations that make up DOJ. JMD is in place to enable the Department as a whole to meet its objectives of enforcing the laws of the United States through the work of its Agents, Attorneys, Analysts and Administrators. JMD works to provide exceptional management support and customer service to the 40 Components of DOJ, which allows them to do their jobs efficiently and focus on their individual mission objectives.
