Bishops of the United Methodist Church are elected by Jurisdictional or Central Conferences and assigned to Episcopal Areas within. Bishops are hereby categorized according to these Jurisdictions. The United Methodist Church currently consists of five geographical Jurisdictions in the U.S.A.: Northeastern, Southeastern, North Central, South Central, and Western. From 1939 until 1968 the Central Jurisdiction of The Methodist Church also existed, consisting of African-American Churches across the U.S.A.
Central Jurisdictions include U.M. Churches, Annual Conferences and Episcopal Areas in various places outside the U.S.A.
