Uma Aventura no Tempo (Portuguese for An adventure through time) is a 2007 Brazilian animated film based on the Monica's Gang comic books. The film was directed and co-written by Maurício de Sousa, creator of over two hundred characters featured in the comic books.

[edit] Plot
The film begins with Franjinha(Frank) finishing the building of his time travel machine and explaining to his dog Bidu that it works with the synthesis of the four elements. Not far away from his office, Cebolinha (Jimmy Five) and Cascão (Smudge) are planning an "unfailible plan" to steal Samson (Sansão), a blue rabbit toy, from Monica. Eventually, the plan fails and Monica, which was engaged in a picnic with Magali (Maggy) discovers it. Cebolinha and Cascão rush into Franjinha's office to hide from Monica. Monica and Magali go there and Monica, trying to beat up the boys, accidentally throws her rabbit on Franjinha's machine causing the elements to travel to different periods of time. Franjinha sends each one of them to a different period in order to find the elements and bring them back to his office. If they don't bring back all the elements, time will get slower and evetually stop. Monica and Bidu, the last entered in the machine by an accident, are sent to prehistory to recover the element of fire. Cebolinha is sent to the XXX century to recover the element of air. Magali is sent to a few years back - when the gang members were babies - to recover the element of earth. Cascão is sent to an indigenous tribe in the XVII century to recover water.

Alessandro Giannini, film reviewer of Carta Capital, says the film uses advanced technique for Brazilian standards and has a dynamic script. But he says that the use of old narrative models such as "time travel" and the "seductive villain" is something to regret for.[1]

According to the Internet Movie Database, as of May 6, 2007 the film had grossed over four million reais in the Brazilian box office. It sold over four hundred tickets [2], making this one of the highest grossing films of 2007 in the country.
It received an average rating of 6.5 by IMDb users. It was better rated in Brazilian film guide site Adoro Cinema, where it did not received any rating lower than seven.[3]
