[edit] The School

The village of Ubly contains just one school for the entire district. This school was home to over 900 students (K-12) during the 2006-2007 school year. Interestingly, more students and faculty enter the doors of the Ubly Community School every day than there are people in the entire village. On a typical day, the school usually has within its walls double the number of people in the rest of the village. The cause of this is very simple: aside from Bad Axe (about 15 minutes driving distance to the north), there are no other schools within the area. Some students travel up to 35 miles just to attend Ubly Community Schools.

Ubly Community Schools has one of the highest academic MEAP and ACT scores in the state of Michigan. Ubly has been known for several years to be one of the most academically challenging public high schools in Michigan.
