About
Currently, my main interest on Wikipedia, is to make a difference in; vandalism, authenticity, quality, NPOV, and researched articles.
I find most disputes about articles time consuming and unpalatable mentally. The main reason is most of the time it is a long, tedious, dispute about a small detail with user #1 arguing it is factual, user #2 saying it's not relevant to the article. I do love debate, and especially the minor, soap opera style ones, but not on Wikipedia.
However, dispute over authenticity, the neutrality of an article, and other policies relation to an article, is usually constructive. In short, I would suffice to say, I dislike minor arguments that slow the progression of an article down for the sake of an almost meaningless detail. Especially when more pressing issues with an article could be ironed out.
I was asked not too long ago by a friend if I wished to be an administrator on Wikipedia, or any other of the Wikimedia Foundations projects. And my response was: "not any time soon". I would find the only thing I could do would be work on the WP:AIV page, and I would probably be too harsh on vandals to be honest. I work on my own server with two mediawiki's, I usually infinite block vandals, and although the vandals are usually page spam blankers (I 99% suspect bots) and not the same as Wikipedia vandalism, I fear I might carry that attitude over to the users of Wikipedia. However, I fully support Administrators and the general administration team, they do a hell of a job in my opinion.
I have noticed, in most RFA's, the level of requirement from the community is, in my opinion, over the top. I see opposes for tiny concerns, in what I would say should be neutrality, as concern for possible action is not the same as the user having done such action. No user is perfect, and as Jimbo has stated, sysopship is: "no big deal". If it came to it, the user can be easily removed from sysop for abuse of his or her power(s). Either way, at least we have some people willing to hand the mop to users without too much hassle. Remember WP:AGF...
Operation Enduring Encyclopedia under attack by vandals. The good thing is they're attacking articles for speedy deletion in this picture...
