[edit] Corporate history
Swissôtel, originally founded in 1980 by SwissAir and Nestlé, was acquired by Raffles Holdings in 2001. The portfolios of both Swissôtel Hotels and Resorts and Raffles Hotels and Resorts were merged to form Raffles International.
In July 2005, Raffles International, was acquired by Colony Capital, LLC, a private investment firm that held a 100% direct equity interest. This transaction garnered the prestigious “Deal of the Year” award for Colony Capital and Raffles Holdings, presented at the 16th annual Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP) in Hong Kong in October 2005.[1]
In May 2006, Colony Capital together with Kingdom Holding Company acquired Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, and combined those assets with Raffles. The resulting Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, with corporate headquarters in Toronto, Canada, is comprised of 88 hotels, in 23 countries, under three brands – Fairmont, Raffles and Swissôtel.
Corporate offices for Swissôtel are located in Zürich, Switzerland, headed by President, Meinhard Huck and VP Marketing & Sales, Petra Goetting.
[edit] Corporate Social Responsibility
