Swan Valley Nyungah Community

The Swan Valley Nyungah Community was a commune of Australian Aboriginal persons located near Eden Hill, Western Australia. In 2003, the settlement was closed amidst claims of widespread sexual abuse, rape and substance abuse, after a 15 year old girl named Susan Taylor committed suicide. Taylor's mother, Lena Spratt, accused the community's leader Robert Bropho of sexual misconduct against herself and her daughter.
The suicide promoted the formation of a parliamentary select committee which reported on matters surrounding the Community and its closure, and later the Gordon Inquiry was formed to inquire into family violence and child abuse in Western Australian Aboriginal communities.
