[edit] Biography
Susie was brought up in Surrey. Her father is Ron Amy OBE, former chairman of the National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF), and her sister, Lynn, is a geneticist. An agent spotted her in 1999 when she was doing a play at the National Theatre in London - After Juliet by Sharman McDonald. Over the next two years she got parts in Sirens (2002), the sitcom Sam's Game, The Swap and My Family.
Susie's first big break came in 2001, at the age of 20, when she was chosen to play 'Chardonnay Lane' in ITV drama Footballers' Wives (2002), which became one of the most talked about shows on TV. She had 5 auditions for the part- the producers originally wanted a blonde actress but changed their minds after meeting Susie. In 2002, she was voted #74 in FHM's 100 Sexiest Girls of 2002 poll and #63 in 2003, UK edition, after appearing on the front cover in February 2003.
Having filmed a second series of Footballers Wives, she was chosen for the lead role of Valentine D'Artagnan in the Hallmark Production - La Femme Musketeer (2004) (mini) , starring alongside Michael York, Gérard Depardieu and Nastassja Kinski. For the role she had to train in martial arts, fencing and horse riding, which she is said to have loved.
In 2005 she played the lead role of Susy Henderson, in the Bill Kenwright produced play, Wait Until Dark. The character of Susy, who is blind, is commonly thought of as being the most exhausting role in theatre.
In November and December of 2007 she appeared in three episodes of Coronation Street, as the ex-wife of Tony Gordon (played by Gray O'Brien). In early 2008 she parodied herself as the actress "Susie Amy" in the TV comedy-drama Moving Wallpaper, and played Angela Cole in Wallpaper's sister show, the soap opera Echo Beach. She also was a judge with Dancing On Ice: The Live Tour at the Sheffield, Hallam FM Arena.
A versatile actress, there are many reports that she is now considering various British film scripts so it may not be the end of her film career just yet. Indeed, Susie is now working in pre-production of Cowboys for Christ, Robin Hardy's reimagineeing of his 1973 The Wicker Man[1].
Susie dated Max Beesley (Bodies, Hotel Babylon) for four years - they were pictured together at friends' weddings in magazines such as OK and Hello. Notoriously private Max has said in interviews she is 'the best girl I've ever met in my life'. The couple split up in late 2007 [2], but have remained firm friends. She also dated British golfer Steve Webster.
She is a close friend of Kelly Brook, Zoe Lucker and Kirsty Gallacher
