Stuart Hill, born 1958 [1] is a British author. He was born in Leicester, where he still lives. He has written two books in The Icemark Chronicles; The Cry of the Icemark and Blade of Fire. He is currently writing the third book called "Last Battle Of The Icemark". He studied English, Classics and Ancient History at Newcastle University.
Stuart failed all his exams at school but was fortunate to be taught by an inspiring teacher who gave him a lifelong love o f reading. Since leaving school he has worked as a car trimmer, a cemetery Gardener and an archaeologist.
It was during snatched coffee breaks from his job in busy book shop that Stuart wrote his first children's book, The Cry Of The Icemark. Not only did it win the inaugural Waterstones Children's Book prize in 2005, it also received extraordinary review and media coverage. Philip Ardagh described the novel as 'a supremely satisfying read which really deserves to be called a page-turner.' It has been translated into 15 languages and a film is currently in production with Fox 2000.
Stuart is now a full-time author and is writing book three.
