Steve Stifler is a fictional character depicted in the three films comprising the American Pie series and played by actor Seann William Scott.

Steven Stifler, also known as Stifler or "The Stifmeister", is one of the central characters of the American Pie series. Stifler is an arrogant, sometimes bullyish, and oversexed jock. Stifler's parents, Eric and Jeanine Stifler, are divorced with Stifler and his brother living with their mother. During the course of the trilogy, it is shown that Jeanine Stifler raised her sons in a very much hands-off fashion, allowing him to throw wild parties and drink. Furthermore, it has been shown that Ms. Stifler is not above seducing her son's friends and that combined with her youthful appearance, is the subject of much lust amongst Stifler's classmates, who deem her to be a "MILF" (an acronym for Mom I'd Like to Fuck).
Stifler has a brother, Matt. Matt (who was the focus of the direct to DVD film American Pie: Band Camp) worships his brother and seeks to carry on his brother's reputation of being a popular and obnoxious sex-crazed jerk, though he ultimately reveals that he only does so because he secretly craves his brother's approval.
Stifler does not have any close friends; it is heavily implied during the trilogy and in the film American Pie: Band Camp, that Stifler is in reality, hated by all and that those that he considers "friends", are in reality hangers on who put up with Stifler's obnoxiousness in order to gain spill-over perks, such as being invited to Stifler's often decadent beer and sex-fueled parties.
During the film, Stifler is shown to associate with members of his school's lacrosse team. Through teammate Oz, Stifler has a strained but ultimately long-term friendship over the other three American Pie kids, Jim, Kevin and Finch, of which out of the three he is shown to be closest to Jim.
Despite his obnoxious behaviour, Stifler changes his ways and both inadvertently (dance off with Bear which leads to Leslie Summers designing Michelle's dress) and directly (teaching Jim to dance, as long as Stifler could be in charge of the bachelor party and could have a dildo show) helps Jim and Michelle's wedding become a success. Towards the end of the film, he is seen as a real friend by the other guys, so much so that he begins to not hate Finch. Finch restores the animosity by reminding him, "I did fuck your mom. Twice."
He is known to have had many sexual partners, with 23 acts of sexual intercourse and at least one act of oral sex in his freshman year of college alone ("I got laid 23 times this year and I'm not counting the hummer i got in the library stacks, baby!").
His first emotional connection with a girl, however, was in American Wedding, with Cadence Flaherty, Michelle's younger sister. It is not known if their relationship lasted beyond Jim and Michelle Flaherty's wedding, although it is revealed that Stifler went on to become a pornography director in American Pie: Band Camp.

Stifler went to East Great Falls High. It is unknown how good he was academically (although he says in American Wedding that he was "always more of a 'C' student" to Cadence), but he was in the school Lacrosse team.
While not part of the sex pact, Stifler plays a crucial role in the film in two ways: his post-prom party (for which an invitation to, was the main motivation for the main four characters to even associate with Stifler) served as the setting for the film's final act.
Stifler also becomes obsessed with ruining one of the main characters (Finch) by exposing him as a geek to the girls of the school after Finch arranges for rumors (including one where he had defeated Stifler in a fight) about himself to be spread across the school in order to make him desirable as a prom date, resulting in Stifler's planned date dumping him in hopes of getting asked out by Finch. Stifler's revenge culminated in him putting Pentalax, a potent laxative, into Finch's drink of choice (moccachino), giving him a case of explosive diarrhea that results in Finch being humiliated in front of a large group of female classmates. Finch however got revenge by making one of the rumors accurate, which was bedding Stifler's mother.

Stifler reappeared in American Pie 2, having boasted of bedding 23 separate girls during his freshman year of college, not including the hummer he "got in the library stacks." Along with the main clique of the film series, Stifler helps chip in cash to rent a beachhouse on Lake Michigan with the rest of the group. In this movie Stifler gets urinated on by a guy whilst under the impression that a girl is pouring champagne on him. During the summer, Stifler becomes obsessed with the owners of the house that they were hired to paint; two female friends who Stifler blinkeredly regards as lesbians, who deal with Stifler's obsession ultimately by offering to engage in varying degrees of lesbian sexual activities in front of him, Jim and Finch but only in exchange for the guys to engage in a corresponding degree of homoerotic acts that girls enjoy. The first is Stifler grabing Finch's buttocks, the second is Stifler and Jim kissing, and the third one would have been for Stifler to receive handjobs from Finch and Jim, which Stifler is surprisingly willing to do. This freaks Jim and Finch out too much and they run off. This annoys Stifler, as the more the guys would have done, the more the girls would have done. At the main party at the beachhouse at the end of the film, the two girls arrive, telling Stifler they never said they were lesbians, that gets Stifler far more excited and ends up in bed with them both.

Stifler is revealed to have become a high school football assistant coach; he also drives the team's bus. He drops in on Jim and Michelle's engagement party, much to Michelle's dismay. He is also implicated in an unusual Jim-plus-two-dogs foursome (which Stifler admitted to enjoying). In this his real first name Steven was revealed, Steve is for short. He later competes with Finch for the heart of Cadence, Michelle's younger sister. He impersonates Finch's personality of an upperclass, educated gentleman in order to win Cadence over, but Finch continues the triangle by replicating Stifler's vulgar frat boy image, which Cadence surprisingly enjoys just as much, if not more.
Before the wedding, Stifler accidentally destroys the massive flower arrangement Michelle's family had ordered, resulting in Michelle and Cadence turning against him. However, Stifler redeems himself at the end of the film: using the football team as his minions, Stifler uses his own money to buy up the entire content of a nearby flower shop and has the football team successfully set up the flowers for the wedding hours before it is to occur. By doing this, Cadence eventually falls for him and invites him to have sex in the closet. Stifler accidentally has sex with Jim's grandmother, who was put in there because she was "being a bitch". At the reception, Stifler danced with Cadence.

In Band Camp, the audience is told that Stifler has become a pornographic movie director. Many believe that he makes another appearance in the movie when Matt Stifler makes a phone call asking for advice. This is actually a friend of Matt's, not his brother Steve.
