St Ives Roosters

St Ives Roosters are a rugby league club from St Ives in Cambridgeshire. They were founded in 1991 as one of the first rugby league clubs in East Anglia. Currently they play in the Rugby League Conference East Division. The clubs colours are red and white and the shirts are hooped with those colours. The ground in which they play at is down Somersham Road on the edge of St Ives.

When the club were founded they were called St Ives Sharks. Their first game was against Newmarket at the St Ivo Outdoor Centre. It was a friendly fixture with both clubs having very little experience in their sides. The Sharks won 56-8 [1].
After the brief Shark era, the club relocated to Huntingdon and thus were renamed Huntingdon Bombers. Eventually in 2001 they returned back to St Ives after sorting out agreements with the ground and fixtures with the local rugby union club [2].
In 2003 the first team entered the newly created Rugby League Conference. After being requested to adopt a nickname "Roosters" was chosen after a competition in The Huntingdon Post newspaper [3]. They have been in the Rugby League Conference ever since.

- In the 1991-2002 period when the Roosters played in the Eastern Region League and the London League, Dan McCormack was the top-points scorer with a total of 118 points broken down into 24 tries and 11 goals.
- Since 2003 when the Roosters have been playing in the Rugby League Conference, Michael Sykes is the top-points scorer with 228 points overall coming from 12 tries and 90 goals.
- As a team, since 2003, the Roosters have scored 1018 points from 198 tries and 113 goals. No drop-goals have ever been scored though.
