St. Ides is a potent brand of malt liquor that is manufactured by the Pabst Brewing Company. The beverage contains 8.0-8.2% alcohol by volume, which puts it at the high end even for the high-alcohol malt liquor category of American lager beers. In addition to the plain St. Ides, the beer is also available in a number of "St. Ides Special Brews" that add a variety of flavorings, including mint and various fruit flavors, to the beer.

The St. Ides brand has made use of celebrity endorsements by rappers in the past. Ice Cube was one rapper who was almost certainly compensated by St. Ides; he had an endorsement deal with the company and even wrote and performed a rhyme for a St. Ides commercial. Other rappers who performed original songs for St. Ides commercials include 2Pac, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, King Tee, DJ Pooh, The Notorious B.I.G., Eric B & Rakim, EPMD, Wu-Tang Clan, Method Man & Redman, RBL Posse, and The Geto Boys. Chuck D appeared in a St. Ides advertisement once, but sued the brand's then-owner, the McKenzie River Brewing Company, for using his voice without his permission; he had long taken a strong stance against malt liquor advertising. St. Ides was parodied in the film Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, where it was referred to as "St. Dies."

'St. Ides Heaven' is a song by singer/song writer Elliott Smith included on his 1995 self-titled album.
Rap group Luniz were known admirers of the drink, as stated in their song I Got 5 On It
Former funk metal band L.A.P.D has a song titled "St. Ides"
In the Bone Thugs-N-Harmony rap song, "Bless Da 40oz", they rap about buying a 40oz of St.Ides "for a dollar ninety even."
The song "Smoothness" by rapper Black Rob features the line "Nothing like a 40 of Ides to keep a brother grooving."
Long Beach rapper Crooked I's name was inspired by the crooked "i" on the St. Ide's bottle label.
The late Tupac Shakur dissed the drink in one of his songs saying, "I dont drink St. Ides" while "Fuck that!" is heard in the background.
Hip-hop group The Roots mentions St. Ides in the song "Section" from their 1996 album Illadelph Halflife, in which rapper Black Thought proclaims "I'm crooked like the 'I' on the toxic malt liquor. . ."
Eazy-E mentions St. Ides in the song "Any Last Werdz" with the line, "People say it ain't wise, to get faded off the St. Ides.".
On the album Thirteen Cities by Richmond Fontaine, there is a song entitled "St. Ides, Parked Cars, And Other People's Homes"
Hip-hop star Ice Cube also mentions St.Ides in his song entitled "When will they shoot?"
RBL Posse's "Don't Give Me No Bammer" has a line "One n**** in the back had a St. Ides beer"
