The Spring Mountain District AVA is an American Viticultural Area located in the Napa Valley AVA in California. The appellation sits on steep terraces of the Mayacamas Mountains in the northwestern portion of Napa Valley. Most of the vineyards in the district are situated 400 feet (122 m) to 2,600 feet (792 m) above sea level. At a higher elevation than the valley floor, Spring Mountain AVA is not as susceptible to fog, but does catch afternoon wind originating from San Pablo Bay.[2]
