Spinoza1111 13:58, 7 September 2006 (UTC)I am very calm. Do not presume to guess my mental state. It shows your injudicious bias.

Spinoza1111 13:58, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Upon being unblocked, then, I will, for the nonce, continue as a poster and a user, and I will adhere to the rules you have indicated. I will also submit the case to arbitration.

Welcome

Hello, Spinoza1111, welcome to Wikipedia.

Here are some tasks you can do:

You might find these links helpful in creating new pages or helping with the above tasks: How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Naming conventions, Manual of Style. You should read our policies at some point too.

If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!

  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like this: ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.

Again, welcome! —Plato

dilbert

Isn't this section too ambiguous? I've been experimenting and come up with this:

Dilbert's irony admits little of any outside world, as if he anticipated criticism but wants to make an impression that he only pretends to anticipate criticism. Norman Solomon believes the strip is insufficiently critical of CEOs and disrespectful of ordinary working people (The Trouble with Dilbert: How Corporate Culture Gets the Last Laugh, Common Courage Press, 1997). The idea that white collar people might be in need of more respect contrasts with a common belief that white collar career is a free choice, but downsizing and some of the pressures on Dilbert have been predicted in the 1970s by Harry Braverman (Labor and Monopoly Capital, Monthly Review Press, 1998 being the most recent reissue). Dealing with those pressures would require Dilbert to be allowed to be more blue-collar in terms of power over his work process.
Peter Drucker and C. Wright Mills both pointed out the paradox on which the strip is based but does not address: Dilbert, Wally, Alice and the rest of the gang are at one and the same time supposed to compete with each other and produce a collective product. The strip satirizes the victims of this double bind.

I haven't put it in, because I'm somehow confused, and I'm a bit unsure if not ashamed about taking out "of course" for the reason it's not journalistic style... Conf 4 July 2005 12:28 (UTC)

I've put that version in the article; I hope you don't mind. ;) « alerante   » 5 July 2005 00:56 (UTC)

You're absolutely right when you say that its not journalistic. I would add that it is also not encyclopedic and is definitely not NPOV the way it is worded. As it is, Solomon's and Mill's ideas are stated as fact, when this is just an opinion.

However, Mr. Nilges, I congratulate you for not comparing Dilbert to Hitler in the article like you did on the Dilbert talk page. That shows real restraint on your part </SARCASM>. I still can't get over the Hitler reference when discussing Dilbert. That takes real insanity on your part. FrankNiddy 00:30, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Deconstructing German pedants

Has there really been some stereotype of a "German pedant" which has been applied to Adorno? It seems to me those two words have been introduced to the article by you. Could please take a look at Talk:Theodor Adorno#Making some changes? Conf 21:32, 12 September 2005 (UTC)

College Board

Wikipedia is not, never has been, and never will be an encyclopedia of opinions. It is an encyclopedia of "no-opinions" or neutral point of view. Your edits were heavily biased, and were inappropriate. If you wish to add such material, do it on the SAT page.--naryathegreat | (talk) 01:04, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for your ten-year old style response. It has been noted and duly ignored. Yours truly, Champ.--naryathegreat | (talk) 02:28, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

Ah, my friend, where to begin? Again, you display all the intelligence and culture of a ball of lint. Your impertinence is exceeded only by your mediocrity as an artist of the insult. Perhaps if someone took one of your stereotypes are slapped you with it your grammar would improve. It is hardly my fault that you've not even the slightest grasp of how to use the English language. Please take your edits and place them in the nearest waste receptacle, such as your head. Thank you for, as always, absolutely nothing. Yours truly, Tex--naryathegreat | (talk) 01:36, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

Inappropriate attitude

Yes, "pretentious"; you are pretending (to yourself, it would seem) that you are better than other people. You are not. Demonstrably so. And the fact that you continue to completely misunderstand the purpose of an encyclopedia (Hint: It is not to answer questions like "How do I draw the human figure?") makes most of your criticisms of the article irrelevant. Please find a more productive and appropriate place to record your views. Tverbeek 12:29, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:SNCF Train Bleu.JPG

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:SNCF Train Bleu.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an arguement why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Dethomas 02:22, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Terhafra.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Terhafra.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 14:08, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:TerHafra.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:TerHafra.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

your editing on Immanuel Kant

Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on the contributor; personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks may lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. Please familiarize yourself with WP:NPA and refrain from personal attacks, including misogynist statements (about 'being on the rag' and 'getting one's pantyhose in a tangle') in the future. Thank you, --Anthony Krupp 23:45, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Comments regarding your edit to User_talk:CQJ

  1. Please make new additions to a user_talk page at the bottom, not the top.
  2. Your last edit to the article in question was 7 August. The case was closed on 23 August. Today is 30 August. What's the pressing issue all of a sudden?
  3. There's nothing really to mediate in this case, and I'm not so sure that you want a mediator involved, especially with some of the past behavior involved. Calling other editors trolls and vandals is in the face of WP:CIVIL, as was saying that I work for the Department of Homeland Security and calling amerindianarts a troll on the case page.
  4. If you're that animated about having what you're writing as part of the article, assume good faith, use the proper citation method, and go ahead and do it. Be bold and do it.

This will be cross-copied to my user_talk page and to the Mediation Cabal case page as well. Have a nice day. CQJ 16:42, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Personal attacks

Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on the contributor; personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Mediation Cabal case

I'll reset the category tags to open. However, with that said, please keep in mind the following;

  1. I will not be the one taking the case since I closed it in the first place, and I prefer not to receive future messages in regards to this case.
  2. It may be several days before the case is taken due to the backlog in the Mediation Cabal.
  3. I will give one of the coordinators a heads-up and have them look and see what their opinion is.

I appreciate your comment in regards to my strict interpretation of policy, however, please be aware that for the most part, a lot of editors on Wikipedia are the same way. I'd recommend that you review the WP:CITE, WP:V, WP:CIVIL, and WP:NPA policies at your earliest convenience. In addition, my participation in this case is ended - and there is no further need to comment on the case on my talk page. Best of luck in your future edits. CQJ 14:30, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Guy Goma

Please don't post messages on closed AfD discussions as you did at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Guy Goma. Thanks, Gwernol 14:36, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Further personal attacks

Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on the contributor; personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks may lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you.

Warning: Please do not add obscenities to Wikipedia. Injecting unnecessary profanities, racially or sexually abusive comments, or provocative pictures to articles or user pages offends many people. Wikipedia treats such actions as vandalism and blocks people from editing for such repeated vandalism. Gwernol 12:03, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

This is your last warning. If you continue to make personal attacks, you may be blocked for disruption. Gwernol 12:11, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Blocked

As per the warnings above, and this edit and several similar ones made after the warnings, I'm blocking your account for a week. Please read WP:NPA. --ajn (talk) 08:53, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
