Spencer Roloson Winery produces wines from the volcanic California hillsides of the St. Helena and Clear Lake areas. Sam Spencer and Wendy Roloson came together to create Spencer Roloson, combining Sam’s global winemaking experiences and Wendy’s knowledge of marketing & branding. Focusing on Rhone and Spanish varietals, they specialize in single vineyard estate bottlings of Syrah, Viognier and Tempranillo. </ref>

The Spencer-Roloson porfolio of wines includes the varietals ^[1], Grenache Blanc, Grenache Noir, Viognier and Syrah, which hail from the winegrowing regions of Northern Spain through the Rhone Valley in France. Spencer-Roloson Winery also produces a Southern Rhone style blend called Palaterra as well as Zinfandel.

The Madder Lake Vineyard is located directly North of Mount St. Helena in the northern reaches of the folded and craggy Mayacamas Range. Littered with truck sized boulders, stone and cobble of all sizes, this is a seriously steep and rocky vineyard with exceptional drainage and north/northwestern exposures. The Tempranillo planted here is a Ribero del Duero selection. The Clear Lake region is a pure and unrelenting environment for Syrah to shine. Densely planted with Northern Rhone selections and a few choice clones of Syrah, Madder Lake Vineyard was designed with power, fortitude and balance in mind. The Zinfandel here is head trained and tightly spaced at an elevation of 2,250 feet. This block is 200 feet higher than any other point on the vineyard, and also happens to be the rockiest as well. The increased exposure, elevation and rocky soils limit the yields naturally and produce a well structured, and serious wine.

The La Herradura Vineyard is a gem tucked into the lower slopes of Howell Mountain in the Conn Valley. It was planted in 1999 with Cote-Rotie Selections and Cote Rotie in mind. The steep site and exposure are ideal for Syrah, taking advantage of the northeastern and western facing slopes in the very cool site.

Knights Valley is just a few miles to the north of Calistoga lodged between Mount St. Helena and the Mayacamas to the west. The Noble Vineyard is planted at the foot of the Mayacamas range facing eastward, favoring the morning light and ensuring cool evenings for ideal ripening. The upper block is dramatically terraced, and underpinned by volcanic bedrock. At it’s foot is an alluvial fan filled with rocky debris and cobble. This combination of soils and exposure make this an ideal site for Viognier.
