The Somali Football Federation (SFF) was founded in 1969 right after the overthrow of the civilian government of Abdirashid Ali Shermarke. In that same year, the SFF became a FIFA member and has been affiliated with the organisation ever since. In 1975 it joined the Confederation of African Football and has been a member ever since as well. SFF is responsible for organizing matches between local teams and enforcing rules and regulations of the game during matches. The Federation is also in charge of the National Football Team, the League and Cup. The organisation has been functioning ever since its establishment although Somalia has not had a government for over a decade now. Somalia is one of the best countries to be ranked bellow their expectancy by FIFA and its because they haven't had a government to support the sport in Somalia for over 15 years due to its Civil war.
