Solitoki Esso

Solitoki Magnim Esso is a Togolese politician. He is the Secretary-General of the ruling Rally of the Togolese People (RPT) and a member of the Pan-African Parliament from Togo.
Esso served as Minister of Communication and Civic Education in the late 1990s.[1][2] On August 27, 2002, the National Assembly voted to replace Dahuku Péré, who had called for reform in the RPT, with Esso in the ECOWAS Parliament.[3] However, the ECOWAS Parliament objected to the National Assembly's move, saying that there was no valid basis for unilaterally replacing Péré with Esso.[4]
Esso was elected to the National Assembly in the October 2002 parliamentary election from the First Constituency of Binah Prefecture.[5] In the National Assembly, he served as President of the Commission of Constitutional Laws and General Administration Legislation.[6] On November 2, 2005, he was elected by the National Assembly as one of Togo's five members of the ECOWAS Parliament, receiving 62 votes out of the 68 deputies present.[7] Esso subsequently became one of the 16 members of the National Commission of the Modernization of Legislation, which was installed on June 23, 2006.[8]
He was elected for a three-year term as Secretary-General of the RPT at the RPT's Ninth Congress in December 2006;[9] he was proposed for that position by President Faure Gnassingbé. At the time of his election, he was technical advisor to the presidential cabinet,[10]
