From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vladimir "Slavko" Vraneš (Владимир Вранеш - Славко) (born January 30, 1983 in Pljevlja, Socialist Republic of Montenegro, Yugoslavia (present-day Montenegro)) is a Serbian/Montenegrin professional basketball player. At 2.29m (7'5")[1] he is one of the tallest players in the world.[2] Vraneš was selected by the National Basketball Association's New York Knicks in the second round of the 2003 NBA Draft. In the American professional league, he has played just one game – during the 2003-04 NBA season for the Portland Trail Blazers, missing a 15 foot jumper and drawing a foul in the final three minutes in a 96-75 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center.[1] As of October 2007, he is currently signed to a three-year contract with Belgrade-based Partizan Igokea. Before the draft he was considered to be a high pick in the draft because of his size. He has also played for Budućnost in Podgorica, Montenegro, Efes Pilsen in Turkey and Red Star Belgrade, in Serbia.[2]
