Skinnyman (born Alex Holland ) is a rapper born in Leeds, who moved to Finsbury Park, London at a young age. He formed the Mud Family with Mongo and Chester P (now of Task Force) with whom he released a number of EPs. These included such records as "Itchy Town" and "Lash Suttin", a reworking of Redman's "Smash Something". Skinnyman released a solo album, Council Estate of Mind in 2004.
Skinnyman also featured on various Hip Hop tracks with Hip Hop Award Winner Karl Hinds of Ill Flava Records. These tracks include the most well known entitled "Let's Av it".
Heavily autobiographical and socially analytical,[citation needed] the album makes much use of samples from Made in Britain, a British film from the early 1980s.
He appeared in the first episode of Tower Block Dreams, a 2004 documentary series on BBC Three which looked into the underground music scene in council estates. He also played a small part in the 2005 interactive TV series Dubplate Drama.
Another single, "Change Your Heart" featuring Nemesis & Arrogance, was released by Real Records in August 2006.
His most recent release is a 2007 single, titled "Live Right", which features Monkane.
Skinnyman will also be supporting Immortal Technique when he performs live in South East London in the Coronet Theater in Elephant & Castleon 4th June 2008.
