Silas Carson (born 1965), an English actor, is mostly known for playing Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi and Viceroy Nute Gunray in all three of the Star Wars prequels.
In Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Carson also plays two other speaking parts, the Senator of the Trade Federation, Lott Dod (although his voice was replaced with that of actor Toby Longworth) and the co-pilot of the ship which Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi are on in the first scene.
He also made a guest appearance on the BBC series Hustle, as Bollywood film fan and perfectionist Kulvinder Samar, and in Spooks and The IT Crowd. He provided alien voices for the Doctor Who episodes "The End of the World", "The Impossible Planet", "The Satan Pit" and "Planet of the Ood". In the latter three he voiced the Ood, a race enslaved by humanity.
Since late 2007 he has appeared in several episodes of BBC's school drama Waterloo Road as Stuart Hordley. His character was running a campaign of blackmail against head teacher Rachel Mason (played by Eva Pope) due to her involvement in prostitution as a teenager. Carson's character revealed that Pope's character used to be a prostitute and later is confronted by Pope's character, in which his character gets kneed where it hurts and falls down the stairs. Once the gas explosion happened (caused by Carson's character's discarded cigerette) he appeared to be leaving the building, but was later found unconscious by Pope's character. Pope's character begins to drag Carson's character out of the building, but the ceiling collapses trapping both Pope and Carson's characters (his character taking the brunt of the falling ceiling). It also learning support assistant Davina Shackleton (played by Christine Tremarco) suffering from smoke inhalation; the viewers have been left on a cliffhanger in the final episode of the series as to whether any of the three characters have survived or not.
