[edit] History

Healesville was first incorporated as a shire on 30 September 1887. It annexed part of the Shire of Yea on 21 April 1925, and part of the Shire of Eltham on 18 June 1958, while losing land to Shire of Alexandra on two occasions—1 October 1963 and 1 October 1984.[2]

On 15 December 1994, the Shire was abolished and merged with most of the Shire of Sherbrooke and all of the Shires of Lillydale and Upper Yarra to form the Shire of Yarra Ranges.[3]

[edit] Wards

The shire was divided into three ridings, each of which elected three councillors:

  • Badger Riding
  • Sugarloaf Riding
  • Watts Riding
