Shervin is a Persian (Iranian)(variations: Sherveen or Sherwin) name given to boys and sometimes girls. The feminine form of the name is either Shervineh or Shervin Dokht (Dokht - Dokhtar : girl)

Shervin is thought to be the shortened form of Anushirvan (Anosheh+ravan) which means 'Everlasting', 'pure' or 'eternal' (Anousheh) 'soul' (Ravan). Anushirvan was the title of Khosrau I the ancient king of Sasanid dynasty in Persia (Iran).

Shervin was also the name of several princes in the ancient Tabarestan region of Iran (Today's Mazandaran and Gilan), including a grandfather of the author of Marzbannameh (Marzban ibn-e Rostam ibn-e Shervin, 12th century A.D.).

Another view is that Shervin is derived from Persian words words "Sher" (or Shir) which means Lion and "vin" which means resembling. These words have originated from the Indo-Iranian languages, so Shervin would mean 'Like a Lion', e.g., brave.

In Savadkuh County, located at the center of Mazandaran Province in Iran, part of Alborz mountain chain is named Shervin and is one of the local natural attractions.

In 2007, the Persian band Barobax released a song on their album WAG named Shervin.
