Shelly Poole (born Michelle Lena Poole, 4 July 1972, in Barking, Essex) is a songwriter and singer, who shot to fame alongside her sister Karen, in the duo / band, Alisha's Attic. She married Ally McErlaine from the Scottish band Texas in October 2001.
After Mercury Records decided not to take out their option on a fourth Alisha's Attic album, Shelly (sometimes spelled as Shellie) started work on a solo career. She has also written for/with Lene Nystrom and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
Her first (and so far only) solo album, entitled Hard Time for the Dreamer was released in September 2005 on the Transistor Project record label, and reached the Top 10 of the French iTunes chart.
On May 8 2006 she released "Lost In You", this was not long after she also co-wrote and sang on Michael Gray's 2006 dance release "Borderline", which peaked at #12 on the UK Singles Chart, #2 on the UK Upfront Club Chart and #3 on the ARIA Club Chart among others.
Her latest single "Totally Underwater" was released on the 16th. The single (or "EP" as it is labeled on iTunes) includes a remix of "Totally Underwater" by Andy Bradfield and two B-sides - "One Kiss" and "What You Feel Like".
Poole has also had a track added exclusively to her MySpace page called "Do What You Want", which is a duet with a country music singer called Charity Hair who is lead vocalist for "The Ailerons".
Shelly is set to release her second album In Gold later this year. She's said it sounds more like Alisha's Attic than her first album, but there are two acoustic songs with Charity Hair. Paul Statham worked on this album with her. It was completed in April. She has become almost notorious for scrapping albums, having done so a few times so far.
In October her website and forum was revamped and it was announced that In Gold is set for an early 2008 release. As of October 12, 2007 the album tracklist is:
The Incision
I Will See You Again
Painkiller
Don’t Come Around Here
A Heart Not A Hole
Caves
Head On
You Know What You Want
The Outsiders
In Gold
Alien (Bonus Track)
