[edit] SCS Wind Ensemble

The Shelburne Community School contains an advanced group of prestigious musicians, known as their Wind Ensemble. Students audition once to get into the ensemble and several times throughout the course of the school year to remain in the ensemble. For the past few years, this young group of musicians has been invited to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida to perform the "Performance of a Lifetime". They, as all the other bands in the school, are led by the distinguished Mr. David Myers. The Wind Ensemble have their annual spring concert on Wednesday, May 16. It will include the songs that were on the program they played in Disney World.

[edit] SCS Show Choir

Similar to the Wind Ensemble, Shelburne Community School also has a Show Choir. There are auditions, Jazz/Pop rehearsals there is a Monday/Wednesday group and a Tuesday/Thursday group The however many students are in the Choir that year. The director of this program and the other 6th - 8th choral groups is Mr. Tom French.

[edit] SCS Athletics

Shelburne has many great sports to offer the students. Baseball, Soccer, Basketball and Softball to name a few, This years basketball teams did extremely well. The Boys "A" team went 7-7 under head coach Craig Roach that brings Roach's career as head coach at SCS 9-21, a great turnaround from last seasons 2-14 season. The 8th graders on the Boys "A" team really stepped up Captains Jeffrey Wettstein, Nicky Elderton and Ian Senesac were the team leaders scoring a good portion if the teams points while Mike Clayton led all scorers this year with a wopping 150 points in just 12 games due to an injury to his left index finger at the end of the season. Jeffrey Wettstein with 111 points while playing with a cast for about half of the season. Nicky Elderton was the second leading scorer with 127 points in 14 games and Ian Senesac was the third leading scorer with 116 points in 13 games Senesac was suspended 1 game for getting two technical fouls during the last game of the season against Hinesburg Community School. Jacob Grasso scoring 694 points and Jonah Cantor scoring 853 points were the best basketball players in the league. Jonah wanted to dedicate his points to 32. Overall the team did extremely fine.

The Girls "A" team did well two losing only two games the whole season only to Williston in the CSSU tournament and one regular season loss to Browns River. Abbie Giles was the girls leading scorer with 167 points in 13 games. Carlee Evans the teams captain was the second leading scorer with 139 points and Ali Carey was third with 98 points. Emma Cohen and Amanda Kinneston played their hearts out every game. They were one of the biggest successes to the teams almost undefeated season. They were the best players overall. The girls lost the CSSU tournament but won the regular season tournament against Williston in a grudge match from the CSSU Finals game. Overall Both A teams did very well. The girls did better than the boys but the boys team had a major turn around from last year's disappointing season.

The Baseball and Softball teams just wrapped up their seasons. The boys "A" Baseball team finished with a winning record make that 6-3-1 tying a very decent Colchester team as only their second game of the season. That game was the highlight of the season. with two outs in the 6th and a man on third, Ian Senesac hit a grounder past the 2nd basemen. Brendan Davitt the man on third scored. It was Ian's first RBI of the season, one of many more to come. The game was tied going into the top of the 7th. Jeffrey Badger pitched two shutout innings, completely shutting down the powerful Colchester lineup. After that the team never looked back. winning 6 out of the next 8 games. It was an impressive season. Many 8th graders contributed greatly. Whether it was JP Benoit getting on base to lead off an inning, Ian Solomon showing his power as he belted a home run in Essex or Ian Senesac, Josh Campagna and Tanner Choinere getting key outs on extremely tough plays. The outfielders for SCS are scrappy, you wont see many better than these guys. Everyone just contributed. Emily Sackett summed up the season in a few words. "We're a big family. We have our ups and downs but we always end out ok." that pretty much says it all for SCS baseball team. Congratulations for their excellent season.

[edit] Soccer

While the Shelburne Soccer team did not dominate that season, they played quite well. Amanda Kinneston, Holly Thayer, Livia Beidermann, and Molly Howard were the team leaders and they were the seniors of the team. They were all great successes to the team's wins!

[edit] Field hockey

Unlike baseball, basketball and soccer, the field hockey team was truly undefeated. Devan Wilkins was absolutely amazing and scored over 236 goals in only 13 games! Shelburne field hockey was the team that every school feared playing. Every player on the team had excellent skills. The team worked very well together and won the cheering contest at the end of the year against other schools. All of this would not have happened if it wasn't for coach Tom Wilkins. He had been coaching for three years. He watched some of the girls go from beginners to skilled players.
