Used extensively in the building industry by metal wall and roof sheeters (roofing plumbers) and air conditioning duct makers and fixers.
[edit] Usage
They cut fast mainly straight cuts in material up to 20 gauge mild steel, 24 gauge stainless steel and 1/16" aluminum. Apart from speed of cut, they are a lot neater than other power tools that do a similar job. The shears will and do cut curves but not less than 30mm outside radius. The tool for cutting tighter curves is a nibbler. They also handle cutting across profiled sheets, similar the the corrugated sheet in the top photo.
