Some VERY rough thoughts on notability guidelines for food/ drink related topics such as Brand Name Foods.
(currently under edit)

[edit] Brand name Foods
- There is a non-trivial discussion of the brand in a notable and verifiable publication or website.
- Store or generic brands are not generally notable, but the store or manufacturer may be. If the brand is notable (e.g., Marks and Spencer's St Micheal), all variants of the brand should be included on one page, perhaps on the retailer or manufacturer's page.
- The brand is widely remembered, culturally significant, or a major development in its category.
- The brand was heavily promoted across a wide region for a sustained period of time, i.e the brand was not a one off, one run, field test etc)
- The brand is not a variant of another (e.g., Cherry 7-Up), Brand variants should
be included within the article on the parent brand.
[edit] Microbrewery
- There is a non-trivial discussion of the microbrewery in more than one
notable and verifiable publication or website.
- The microbrewery is recognised by an appropriate trade organisation (CAMRA?)
or has large (popular) following.
- Individual products of a microbrewery are not generally of themselves notable, although
could be listed on the same page as that for the microbrewery concerned.
- For microbreweries owned by larger chains, unless notable on their own merits,
the microbrewery concerned should be included within it's parents article.
- The products of the microbrewery are available for purchase, 'homebrews' being inherently
non notable in most cases.
Comment What about Cider? There are some 'micro' yet commerical cider works. ShakespeareFan00 13:58, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Wine
- There is a non-trival disscussion of the wine or vineyard in a notable
and verfiable publication
- Specfic indvidual wines may be notable (e.g Don Pereon), but 'generic' wines from a region
or being of a certain type are generally not notable. Ideally,'generic' winse should be included within the article on the vineyard, region or type.
