Talk:Shai Hulud (band)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
simply...the best band ever
do you know anything about metalcore and post-hardcore??? No. cuz if you did you wouldnt write such idiot stuff..Shai Hulud is HARDcore
So, regarding genre classification, I'm going to call into question the veracity of the AllMusic cite in this instance. They describe this band as 'positively themed', which seems a bit fishy to me, given albums and songs like "A Profound Hatred of Man", "Solely Concentrating on the Negative Aspects of Life", "Scornful Of The Motives And Virtue Of Others", "Ending The Perpetual Tragedy", etc. Shai Hulud creates deeply misanthropic music, and anything that labels this "positively themed" is not, in my view, a credible source. On top of this, the allmusic link also bills this as hardcore, which is how I understand the band, so it's certainly no evidence to remove the references to hardcore altogether. I'm leaving metalcore in the side genre list though. Thoughts, anyone? Arturus 04:33, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Finished!
uf, at last i finished my own Shai Hulud "WikiProyect" ;-)
Added : Logo, Image, U.S.A. Flag, Website on the infobox, Misanthropy Pure Album, and tons of band info & history
Changed : USA for United States in the Origin on the infobox
Please do not change the band's genre for Hardcore Punk. The genres in the infobox are sourced so they should not be removed

[edit] Shai Hulud is metalcore
Some users have changed the genre in some Shai Hulud-related articles to hardcore punk or just simply hardcore. (incorrect) Shai Hulud practicaly invented the term metalcore, they are metalcore, they blend hardcore with heavy metal. Many bands hate their tags, just like trivium and bullet for my valentine doesn't like to be called "metalcore" (they think they're just heavy metal), caliban (they think they're only hardcore) korn (they hate the tag "nu metal"), for example.

On the booklet I read you call Shai Hulud's music as neo-classical metalcorechestration : why neo classical and why metalcore?
It is kind of a joke. Our friends would always come over and listen to demos of the songs and say all kinds of funny things and that's how we came up with the term. It's neo-classical because it's new but classically epic sounding - our friend Jay calls it "Legacy-core", we don't know what that means, but we think it's a pretty funny word. Jay plays drums for a band called When Dreams Die, check 'them out sometime, they're awesome:www.thedie.com; and yet all the songs are written orchestrated by a metal influenced

We will tell you this, Misanthropy Pure will feature ten new songs (including To Bear The Brunt Of Many Blades -- the 2006 demo version can be heard by clicking NOT HERE, but HERE) that were scientifically structured to knock socks -- regardless of the wearer's gender, race, or length of toenails -- clean off. Really. We hired a crack team of metalcore specialists to study today's hippest, hottest, most unit moving bands to find out what you, the good, and quite possibly medicated to at least some degree public, looks for in today's music (this is, of course, why Britney Spears sans hair has been in various pits across the globe demonstrating her style as of late). Upon receiving the results, we were so appalled we used them as a blueprint to construct an album that is nothing short of the perfect antithesis (that means opposite -- er, so we think) of what most of you want to hear. That's right, most of you guys and gals sure have bad taste. No worries, so do we. Just ask our moms.

...Don't call it a comeback. It's not a reunion. It's an emergence from a hibernation that included plenty of activity. SHAI HULUD has returned to the forefront of a scene it helped create. While the current "metalcore" climate has a blueprint that was co-authored by SHAI HULUD, the band isn't content to rest on past triumphs...

A positively themed metalcore band with some straight-edge and Christian leanings, the influential Shai Hulud has maintained a strong band identity since their original formation in the mid-'90s, even though their apparent inability to stick with one lineup, label, hometown, or even band name has left them with a convoluted history.

besides, misanthropy pure is not only a hardcore album, they have stated that the album have strong metal influence. --Kmaster (talk) 03:19, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
