Shankar started off as the Hero of 1 year ran Tamil Mega Hit " Oru Thalai Raagam ", had a dream opening in Malayalam Films too with Fazil's Manjil Virinja Pookkal, as the hero of the film in which Mohanlal was the villain.
He was the Second Super Star of Malayalam Films of 80's after Late Action Star "JAYAN". Shankar gave a large number of Solo hits both in Tamil as well as Malayalam.

The latest Malayalam film, Shankar acted is the Children's film "ROBOT" and he has completed "Rhythm" another film plus his new serial for Surya TV "Ammakkayie" is under progress in which he teams with his old hit pair Menaka.
He also acts in TV serials and lives in Cochin with his wife and son.
